The celebration of Father's Day first took place in Fairmont, West Virginia. It was organized by Mrs. Grace Golden Clayton to celebrate the lives of the 210 fathers who had been lost in the Monongah Mining disaster. Father's Day is now a world wide event that honors fathers and celebrates fatherhood, parental bonds, and the influence of fathers in society today. " My dad has always been the most kind, easy going, hard working, caring person I know. I look up to him in so many ways and respect all the fathers out there who care for their family as much as my dad cares for his. My dad is a very "mans man", loves hunting, sports and anything outdoors. Some would say the fact he has all girls makes his situation a little more difficult, however, he has never complained and has made special effort to have things in common with every one of us girls (even if this means enjoying getting his nails done). He has really taken the time to get to know us on a very personal and friendly level. Not only do I look to him as my dad but I go to him as my friend." -Jenny (Saranoni employee) Lets not forget to take the time to thank all of those fathers, grandfathers, or those men who have influenced your life for the better.
